A vibrant single mother of two young sons, Karol embodies what it means to be a yoga teacher. Her philosophy is a simple one: “Do what you can where you are. Don’t judge your body because it’s not ready to do a pose. Give yourself time and your body will learn.”
Yoga is more than just a practice for this amazing teacher; it’s also a way of life. “I’ve learned so many things since I became a teacher. I know
that I have a certain body type, and I discovered very quickly that I could do many difficult postures without a lot of effort. Working with different students who had different body types and abilities, I saw that doing those hard poses didn’t make me a better teacher. I know that we each have something special about us, and yoga helps us discover that and honor it.”
Karol’s classes don’t follow a specific pattern although they are firmly grounded in traditional yoga teachings. “I like to mix things up,” she says with a laugh. “I don’t really think about it; I believe you should let things flow. Every class is different. Sometimes, you come in with the idea you are going to teach a certain type of class, but you see your students aren’t really ready for it, so you make adjustments. It’s joyful when I see everyone participating in their own way, not struggling, although we do work hard, because that is yoga.”
Karol has been teaching at Peace Love Yoga Palm Springs for the past 6 years, and is one of the most well-regarded and respected yoga teachers in all of Palm Springs. Her classes are a vibrant fusion of postures that truly uplift and challenge her students to find the teacher within. In addition to Energetic Vinyasa, Karol teachers Sunrise Yoga, Gentle Yoga and Restorative yoga for our studio and throughout the Coachella Valley.
