Barry discovered Kundalini yoga for the first time in the mid 90’s in West Hollywood, Ca. “I was a recently certified massage therapist, looking for a private gym to set up my chair massage business. What I found instead would alter the course of my life.” That night, Barry tried his first Kundalini Yoga class. Just one practice was all it took for the young yogi to become completely hooked.
“I started taking classes almost daily. Each class encompassed music, creative movements, soul-strengthening core work, deep meditations and surprisingly, some dancing. The positive effects were immediate. The practice engaged all my senses. It was pure radiance.”
Some time thereafter, Barry began studying with acclaimed teachers Yogi Bhajan, Gurmukh Khalsa, Shiva Rea, and Bryan Kest. While studying with these remarkable instructors, Barry realized his desire to share the gift of this empowering practice with others. He completed a 200-hour vinyasa certification and he’s been teaching ever since.
“I firmly believe that yoga can help you gain a deeper relationship between body, mind and nature. Inside each of us is a spark — a Divine Fire that waits to be ignited. This practice of yoga and meditation is one of the surest routes to connecting with your authentic self, to open the door to live the life you were meant to live.”
Barry is a KRI-certified Kundalini Yoga instructor and brings this powerful, accessible style of yoga to our studio in both monthly workshops and weekly classes. Kundalini yoga can be practiced by anyone;
a student is not limited by experience, level of fitness or age. The practice incorporates simple movement (kriyas),
sacred sound (mantras), uplifting music and deep meditation to help you get in touch with your Sacred Center —
and the benefits of the practice are immediate and lasting. Barry teaches with a single purpose in mind: That you will leave his classes encouraged, motivated and feeling better than when you arrived.
Barry is available for private yoga lessons (individual or group) and sound healing sessions in addition to public classes and workshops.
